This Week: February 11-15

Check Grades Here.

This promises to be a fun week in the English 9 Cohort.

Wednesday-We will begin the Independent Reading Project. Students will be reading in class for 30 minutes, three times a week for the next month. Students will also need to read outside of class to finish their books.
  • Students can read any fiction book that is on an appropriate level and has not been turned into a movie.
  • Students can read as many books as they want to, as long as they finish at least one.
  • Because we have not read all the books that students can choose from, we are requiring students to have a signed permission slip by Wednesday.

Friday-We will be performing the play "I Never Saw Another Butterfly." Based on a true story of the Holocaust, the play allows students the opportunity to reflect on the experiences of teenagers in the Holocaust. Parents are welcome to attend (if their children are comfortable with them coming to our class). Second Period will perform at 9:15. Fourth period will perform at 11:00. We may end up needing an extra day to rehearse. If so, the performance will be postponed to the following Wednesday. We will let you know if the performance will be postponed.
